The past six weeks has been an extraordinary journey thanks to our S.O.A.P. journal. This little black book has helped us dig in deeper into the Book of James through scripture, observation, application and prayer.  Today’s entry is based on James 5:9, which says,

Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! James 5:9

Complaining is no joke! What we say about others should not be taken lightly. The words that we speak about other people can bring judgment upon ourselves.

Before complaining about those around us, we need to check our heart and control our tongue. Grumbling is not a solution. Clear communication is the only way to bring real resolution to issues. God cares how I speak to others.

Jesus, thank you for believing the best in me, even when I was at my worst. Today I choose to believe the best in those around me. Instead of grumbling I choose to be proactive as I communicate. Let my words bring clarity and peace into every situation.

Final Thoughts

Let’s embrace love instead of judging others. Complaining about our peers won’t get us very far. Through compassion or understanding and a simple act of kindness, we can be that shining light in all our areas of our lives.
